In Brief: On-Line Updates To E-Commerce Book

The authors of "21st Century Money, Banking & Commerce," a nearly 700-page text on electronic commerce developments and their legal environment, said they will be updating it on the Internet.

"It is one thing to write about electronic commerce and financial services, but it is a much more valuable endeavor to keep that work up-to- date," said Thomas P. Vartanian, one of the authors, who is a Washington- based partner of the New York law firm Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson.

The updates on such subjects as smart cards, electronic money, privacy, and security will be available to subscribers on a password-protected Web site. Excerpts can be viewed free at www.ffhsj.com/21stBook.

The other authors are Fried Frank partner Robert H. Ledig and Lynn Bruneau, head of Arthur Andersen's computer risk management group in the New York region. The book was published in conjunction with the National Automated Clearing House Association.
