Card Briefs: Transaction Network Revenue Rises 33%

Transaction Network Services Inc. reported second- quarter revenue of $20.4 million, a 33% increase from a year earlier.

The company, which provides data communications support for transaction processing, earned $2.2 million, or 17 cents a share, up 38%.

Separately, Transaction Network Services, known as TNS, said it extended a service agreement with Electronic Payment Services Inc. of Wilmington, Del., until 2002.

EPS said it will in turn put more of its credit card and automated teller machine transactions on the TNS network.

"We're exceptionally pleased that EPS has chosen to migrate traffic from other carriers," said TNS president and chief executive officer John J. McDonnell Jr. "We believe this once again demonstrates our ability to provide the network technology required by the largest processors."
