Tech Bytes: Comdisco in $20M World Savings Job

Comdisco Inc. has been hired for a comprehensive technology upgrading of World Savings and Loan Association, Oakland, Calif.

Under a $20 million, five-year contract, the technology services company is to replace World Savings' servers, personal computers, cables, printers, and other hardware in 300 branches. The project was begun in October and will take about nine months to complete, said Steve McFarland, Comdisco vice president for network delivery.

World Savings is anticipating improvements in customer service and cross-selling.

Comdisco, which upgraded World Savings' wide area network a year ago, will maintain the new hardware once it is installed.
