In Brief: GlobeID Offers Sneak Peek at New Version

GlobeID Software said it has made available to its customers and system integrators a pre-release version of its comprehensive software package, GlobeID Banking 2.0.

The company, the successor of a defunct French start-up called GC Tech, aims to become a leader in on-line banking and electronic commerce systems.

It announced Banking 2.0 in March, saying it would support many transaction standards including SET, SSL, OFX, and financial electronic data interchange.

GlobeID components consist of Middle Office Solution, Internet Payment Handler, Home Banking Handler, Internet Virtual Cash, Financial EDI, Foreign Exchange. They can serve as building blocks for "a whole new range of applications such as corporate purchasing, bill aggregation, installment and loyalty programs," said Jean Krief of Bill International Financial Systems, a system integrator owned by the French computer company Bull, which is Globe ID's majority owner.

"GlobeID Banking 2.0 meets market expectations as the financial community is now clearly taking on an active part in the deployment of electronic commerce," said the software company's chairman and chief executive officer, Francois J. Chaillou.
