In Brief: Piper Exec to Oversee 2 ReliaStar Subsidiaries

ReliaStar Financial Corp., Minneapolis, has hired Ken Cameranesi to manage day-to-day operations at two subsidiaries: PrimeVest Financial Services Inc., a third-party marketer, and Washington Square Securities Inc., a broker-dealer.

The position-executive vice president and chief operating officer-was created for Mr. Cameranesi, a spokesman said. His first day will be Aug. 24.

Mr. Cameranesi's last day at Piper Jaffray Inc., a brokerage company in Minneapolis where he has worked for 17 years, will be July 31. He has been director of operations since June 1997.

Piper Jaffray was bought May 1 by U.S. Bancorp, Minneapolis.

PrimeVest, St. Cloud, Minn., has more than 650 financial institutions as clients and $5.6 billion of assets under management. ReliaStar, the 11th- largest publicly held life insurance company in the United States, has $21.2 billion of assets under management.
