Executive Changes: Miami Executive At NationsBank Jumps to Unit of

Colonial BancGroup of Montgomery, Ala., has hired NationsBank executive Barry A. Givner and put him in charge of trust and investment management services throughout Florida.

He will also be involved in financial and estate planning.

Mr. Givner was senior vice president and relationship manager in NationsBank's private client group in Miami. He remains in that city but at Colonial Bank South Florida, and will be a senior vice president and senior trust officer of Colonial BancGroup's trust division.

Before joining NationsBank, Mr. Givner was vice president and regional trust officer at Merrill Lynch in Coral Gables. Earlier he was vice president of personal trust business development at Barnett Bank in Miami- Dade County. He has 13 years of banking experience.

Meanwhile, Colonial South Florida has hired Martha Ruiz and Fatima del Valle-Balbuena as vice presidents.

Ms. Ruiz, who is in the private and executive banking division, will be responsible for managing a portfolio of wealthy domestic and international clients. She was a vice president and relationship manager at Barnett Bank in South Florida, managing a private banking portfolio. (NationsBank bought Barnett in January.)

Before joining Barnett, Ms. Ruiz was an account officer in the corporate banking division of BankAmerica International. She has 20 years' international and corporate banking experience.

Ms. Del Valle-Balbuena, also a 20-year banking veteran, is the southern area sales and service manager for Miami-Dade County. She is responsible for sales strategies and training at Colonial's five branches in Dadeland, the Falls, Old Cutler, Brickell, and Key Biscayne. She was a relationship manager in the professional and executive department at NationsBank and held similar posts at Barnett Bank.
