First Trade Union Names Executive

NEW ENGLAND

First Trade Union Bank, Boston, named William H. Placke as president and chief executive officer.

Chief financial officer Paul Dougovito had been interim president and CEO since William McVey resigned last year. Richard Kronish is the bank's chairman.

Mr. Placke was president and chief operating officer of $3.3 billion- asset Centerbank in Waterbury, Conn., before First Union Corp. bought it in 1996. More recently he was the co-chairman of Partnership 2000, Waterbury's economic development umbrella organization, and co-chairman of Community Vision for Waterbury.

First Trade Union Bank is a $225 million-asset savings bank owned by the Carpenters Combined Benefits Funds of Massachusetts.
