In Brief: Standard Register to Offer Payment Software

Standard Register, a producer of financial forms, has licensed BlueGill Technologies software for delivering bills over the Internet.

Standard Register will market the Ann Arbor, Mich.-based company's "1 to 1 Server" software as StatementLink, offering it to billers in conjunction with its traditional paper-based document services.

"A paperless environment is not a current reality," said David Fehrman, general manager of Standard Register's imaging services group. But "there is a growing demand for electronic statement delivery from both companies and consumers."

BlueGill Technologies provides its bill presentment software to 18 billers and four service bureaus, including Vestcom International, Electronic Data Systems Corp., Moore Business Communications Systems, and IBM Global Services, a Canadian subsidiary of International Business Machines Corp. BlueGill's software can also be used to pass bills to automated teller machines and over the telephone.
