National City Promotes Its Consumer Finance Chief

National City Corp., Cleveland, has named A. Joseph Parker, who since June has led its consumer finance business, as an executive vice president.

Mr. Parker, who had been a senior vice president since 1990, oversees the credit card, out-of-market home equity, indirect auto, and education finance divisions and reports to vice chairman Vincent A. DiGirolamo.

He joined the company's Columbus, Ohio, bank as a management trainee in 1977 and later held management jobs in retail operations, finance and card services. In 1993 he was named chief financial officer of the bank as well as head of strategic planning for the holding company; a year later he became manager of National City Corp.'s retail business.

The holding company also promoted vice presidents Jeffrey T. Siler and John D. Gellhausen to senior vice president.

Mr. Siler was executive vice president of retail banking in Dayton at National City Bank, which he joined in 1969. He will now be a senior member of the holding company's consumer finance team, running the dealer finance unit, which provides floor-plan lending and indirect consumer lending through car, boat, and recreational vehicle dealerships. He will report to Mr. Parker.

Mr. Gellhausen has been National City Corp.'s controller since April, when the job was created. He joined the company in 1995 as an assistant vice president and mergers and acquisitions analyst in corporate planning. He reports to vice chairman and CFO Robert G. Siefers.
