Executive Changes: MIDWEST

Brenton Bank, Des Moines, has hired Brad Cunningham as senior vice president and chief investment officer.

He will manage the bank's investment portfolio and be portfolio manager for the Brenton Intermediate U.S. Government Securities Fund.

Mr. Cunningham was most recently senior portfolio manager and vice president at Boatmen's Bancshares and NationsBank Corp. in St. Louis, managing the investment portfolios of 26 banks. NationsBank acquired Boatmen's in 1997.

Detroit Commerce Bank, a start-up formed by Capitol Bancorp of Lansing, Mich., has named Linda Watters president.

Ms. Watters was a vice president and relationship manager at Michigan National Bank, a subsidiary of National Australia Bank.

Detroit Commerce said it will open this fall and specialize in small- business banking.

Capitol Bancorp, which has $846.5 million of assets, owns several banks in Michigan and Arizona.

American Chartered Bank, Schaumburg, Ill., has hired Martin Dickson as senior vice president in charge of its new ACB Leasing division, which will specialize in equipment lease financing..

Mr. Dickson, who will be based in Mount Prospect, was a vice president at Marshall & Ilsley Bank in Milwaukee, his employer for 11 years.
