Executive Changes: MIDDLE ATLANTIC

First Washington State Bank in Windsor, N.J., hired a senior vice president and two vice presidents for its commercial lending department.

Senior vice president Douglas Conover will head the department; he was a vice president at Sun National Bank, Vineland, N.J.

Vice presidents John C. Lauricella and Betty Solewater are commercial loan officers. Both came from PNC Bank, where Mr. Lauricella was a vice president and Ms. Solewater a Small Business Administration loan specialist.

In addition, John Iglio was named community banking officer of First Washington's Lakewood branch. He had been second vice president and branch manager at Newark-based Penn Federal Savings Bank.

First Washington State has $181 million of assets.

Commonwealth Bank of Norristown, Pa., has named M.W. "Bud" MacKellar, hired in June to lead its commercial lending department, as a vice president.

Mr. MacKellar had been Summit Bank's regional vice president and middle- market manager for the Delaware Valley. Before joining Summit he had worked for Constitution Bank, Fidelity Bank, Industrial Valley Bank, and Continental Bank.

Commonwealth Bank, owned by $2.4 billion-asset Commonwealth Bancorp in Norristown, also named James C. Gierlich as a regional vice president.

Mr. Gierlich was hired in April as commercial lending manager for Berks and Lebanon counties. He had been vice president and manager of Berks County business banking at CoreStates Bank, and vice president of commercial lending at National Penn Bank.

Northwest Bancorp, Warren, Pa., has named president and CEO John O. Hanna to the additional job of chairman.

He also became chairman of its Northwest Savings Bank, but relinquished the post of bank president and CEO. William J. Wagner got those jobs.

Mr. Wagner had been chief operating officer of the bank since 1996. He remains executive vice president and chief financial officer of the holding company.

Northwest Bancorp has $2.5 billion of assets.
