Card Briefs: Honor Claims Record For POS Transactions

Honor Technologies Inc. reported record point of sale transactions for the first half.

Its average monthly volume jumped to 26.8 million from 17.6 million in the first half of 1997.

"These figures reflect not only Honor's expansion and the increased number of POS outlets but also growing consumer usage," said Thomas O. Bennion, president and chief executive officer. "The ease and convenience of purchasing by ATM card are winning over consumers."

The network has signed a letter of intent to merge with Star System Inc. of San Diego, the leading regional network in POS transactions.
