H.H. Simmons Succeeds Father As Chairman of Zions' Lead Bank

Zions Bancorp., Salt Lake City, has elected Harris H. Simmons chairman of Zions First National Bank, succeeding his father, Roy Simmons, who remains chairman of the parent company.

The younger Mr. Simmons has been president and chief executive officer of both since 1990. He will retain those titles at the parent company and relinquish them at the bank to A. Scott Anderson.

Mr. Anderson has been executive vice president of retail banking since 1991, overseeing consumer and small business activities. Zions has not named his successor.

Zions Bancorp. also promoted senior vice presidents Dale M. Gibbons, Gerald J. Dent, and Danne L. Buchanan to executive vice president.

Mr. Gibbons, who is chief financial officer of the parent and the bank, and Mr. Dent, who is in credit administration at both, will remain executive vice presidents of the bank. Mr. Buchanan, the president of Zions Data Service Co., is responsible for operations and information systems at the parent company.

W. David Hemingway, executive vice president of Zions First National, was given the additional title of executive vice president of the parent company. His duties include capital markets and investments.

In addition, Gary S. Judd was appointed senior vice president of Zions Bancorp. He remains president and CEO of the recently acquired Vectra Bank in Denver.

Allan W. Severson, who was also named senior vice president of the parent company, is president and CEO of Grossmont Bank in San Diego. Zions Bancorp bought Grossmont last year.
