IN BRIEF: National City Execs to Lead 1st America Units

First of America Bank in Kalamazoo, Mich., has named as senior vice presidents two corporate bankers from Cleveland-based National City Corp., which bought it in March.

Brian G. Karrip was named senior vice president in charge of a business development team that will concentrate on Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Ann Arbor in Michigan and the Chicago and central Illinois markets. He is also responsible for management services for sales development and will work with the bank's 32 regional presidents in the two states.

Mr. Karrip was Ohio manager of National City's corporate banking sales development unit; before that, he was manager of a corporate sales group for the bank's metro/Ohio division.

Marybeth S. Howe was named as the First of America senior vice president in charge of lending to large companies in Michigan and Illinois. At National City Bank she had held the same job for Michigan.

First of America also hired Randy Eschelbach as Michigan-Illinois manager of the leasing group.
