A Jan. 8 article, "Harvard Suggests Solution to HUD Mess: Shutter It" (page 10), erred in crediting the essay discussed to Harvard University. Though a Harvard professor wrote it, the essay was commissioned and published by the Cato Institute.

A Jan. 21 story, "Asian Mess Hits Profits at J.P. Morgan, Citi, Chase" (page 1), overstated Wachovia Corp.'s fourth-quarter loss from the sale of investment securities. It was actually $4.6 million.

A Jan. 22 article, "Citicorp Testing Unusual Variable Guaranteed to Return at Least 4.25%" (page 14), overstated the extra annual fee charged. It is 50 basis points, not 99, on top of the 99 charged for the bank's standard variable product.
