In Brief: New Customer a Week For 1st Data Program

First Data Corp. said its direct banking division has attracted a customer a week for its NetPrecision Internet banking software, since it began offering a deal for quick installations at low costs.

Under the 30/30 deal, offered to small and midsize financial institutions since February, installs its software, used to create a transactional Web site, in 30 business days for an up-front cost of $30,000.

"The pace at which we're bringing new customers on-line has accelerated as banks, savings and loans, credit unions, and brokerages have come to recognize that their customers want home banking," said Randy Kahn, president.

First Data Direct's clients include NextCard, Alliance Capital, and Amarillo National Bank.
