Fleet Signs Up Technology Exec For Commercial Business Lines

Fleet Financial Group in Boston has hired Lester P. Goldstein as an executive vice president and a senior technology relationship manager at Fleet Technology Solutions.

He will manage a group responsible for coordinating the application of technology to strategic objectives in Fleet's commercial business lines.

Mr. Goldstein was the chief operating officer of Advantage Systems Inc. in Waltham, Mass., a provider of cash management software to banks. He has also been a consultant for Fleet and other financial companies.

At Fleet he succeeded Don Flores, who was earlier named chief information officer of the credit card division.

Mr. Goldstein reports to Roy Lowrance, Fleet's chief information officer and managing director of the Technology Solutions unit.

Meanwhile, Fleet Bank promoted Philip G. Grossman to senior vice president in New York.

Mr. Grossman oversees community development lending in metropolitan New York and New Jersey for Fleet's real estate finance group. He joined the bank in 1995 as a vice president; earlier this year he was appointed to the holding company's CRA committee.

Also in New York, Jamie Medowar was hired as a vice president and relationship manager in the real estate finance group. She had worked for Ackman-Ziff Real Estate Group and earlier for Bank of New York and Irving Trust Co.
