Smart Bits: Lithuanian Bank Chooses Multos System

Bank Snoras of Lithuania is adopting the Multos operating system, De La Rue Card Systems and Maosco Ltd. announced. The companies said the bank's commitment to purchase 50,000 cards from De La Rue will result in its being one of the first in the world to implement Multos, which is closely associated with the Mondex smart card program.

Bank Snoras is upgrading a proprietary system and making it internationally compatible with Multos and the EMV-Europay-MasterCard-Visa- credit and debit standard.

"Multos is establishing itself as the financial industry's smart card platform of choice and Bank Snoras is leading the way in Eastern Europe," said Nick Habgood, chief executive officer of Maosco Ltd., the governing consortium of the Multos operating system.
