First Federal Savings Names Executive

First Federal Savings and Loan Association in East Hartford, Conn., has elected Linda S. Klein as a director.

Ms. Klein is associate professor of finance in the school of business administration at the Univeristy of Connecticut, where she has taught since 1988. Before that she was an economic planner and analyst for the division of economic development at the Florida Department of Commerce.

On the First Federal board she succeeded Stephen D. Messner, who retired from it Wednesday. Mr. Messner, a retired University of Connecticut professor, had been a director of the bank for 22 years.

First Federal has $980 million assets.
