Capital Briefs: Chicago Title Signs Up for a Thrift Charter

The Office of Thrift Supervision announced Friday that Chicago Title Corp. has filed a charter application.

The title insurance firm has nearly 4,000 agents in 49 states and 1997 revenues of $1.5 billion. According to Chicago Title's application, CTT Trust would provide personal and corporate trust services to current clients and the general public.

In addition to title insurance, Chicago Title subsidiaries sell flood certificates, consumer credit information, escrow services, and property appraisals. Chicago Title joins 26 other nonbanks with applications pending for thrift charter.
