Tech Bytes: Tech Firm Combines Phone, Web Services

Periphonics Corp. announced the introduction of PeriWeb 2.0, an enhanced system for combining interactive telephone services with Internet transaction processing.

Periphonics' IVR, or interactive voice response, systems rely on the telephone for input and output of data, but Web browsers can supply an alternative interface to many applications.

System developers can rely on PeriWeb and PeriProducer, both introduced in 1996, to construct transaction processing services for multiple media.

Separately, Periphonics introduced CallSentry, a monitoring and recording tool for quality assurance and auditing in call centers. "It saves supervisors the time of listening to agent conversations in real time and improves efficiency by enabling them to play back voice files at their convenience," said Richard LeGrand, executive director of Periphonics' business development group.
