National City Bank Names Executive

National City Bank, Cleveland, has hired senior managers from KPMG LLP Peat Marwick and Schwab for key jobs at Sterling, a division of its private client group

Linda A. Gause will be director of financial counseling at Sterling. She was a senior tax manager at KPMG Peat Marwick in Columbus, Ohio.

Before that she had been a tax manager at Ernst & Young LLP in Winston- Salem, N.C.

Ms. Gause, a CPA, has 12 years of experience in income tax consulting, estate, retirement and financial planning.

Christopher M. Guanciale was hired as director of compensation and benefits at Sterling. Mr. Guanciale has 13 years' experience in employee benefits compliance and sales. He was senior manager at Schwab Retirement Plan Services Inc. in Akron, Ohio.

Earlier he was a manager at Deloitte & Touche LLP in Cleveland and Akron.

And before that he was a vice president and trust officer for First National Bank of Ohio in Akron.
