In Brief: Diversinet, Deloitte In Referral Agreement

Diversinet Corp., developer of the Passport Certificate Server for authorizing and authenticating on-line commerce, announced a strategic alliance with Deloitte & Touche.

The accounting and consulting firm will provide consulting and system- integration support for Diversinet. The two organizations said they will mutually refer products and services to each other's clients.

"There is a great challenge in protecting the privacy of users and the integrity of information traveling on public networks," said Harry DeMaio, president of Deloitte & Touche Security Services LLC. The alliance "enables us to offer a scalable and efficient public key technology solution for their security and related issues."

Diversinet has also formed partnerships with Ernst & Young Canada and Microsoft Canada in hopes of disseminating its streamlined approach to a digital certificate infrastructure. At the recent Defending Cyberspace conference in Washington, it added to the alliance roster J.G. Van Dyke & Associates of Bethesda, Md., which consults for the National Security Agency and other U.S. government clients.
