Short Takes: Putnam Names Director Of Broker-Dealer Unit

Putnam Investments has promoted Guy R. Sullivan to head its broker- dealer division.

Mr. Sullivan, 37, joined the Boston-based mutual fund company in 1995 as a division sales manager for the broker-dealer unit. In that role, he led the broker-dealer sales force in the eastern United States. His promotion took effect Jan. 1.

He succeeds Thomas Littauer, who left Putnam Nov. 25 to join Scudder Kemper Investments.

Mr. Sullivan reports to Vincent Esposito, national retail sales director at Putnam. Putnam's retail business accounts for $176 billion of assets, and broker-dealer sales account for a third of that figure.
