PNC Unit Starts Philly M&A Group

PNC Capital Markets said Friday that it has formed a three-member merger and acquisition team in Philadelphia.

PNC, a unit of PNC Bank Corp. in Pittsburgh, already had M&A teams in Pittsburgh and East Brunswick, N.J. The addition of the Philadelphia group brings the number of professionals in PNC's M&A unit to 10.

The group focuses on deals valued at $15 million to $100 million.

The new Philadelphia M&A team consists of Gordon J. Metz, Diana L. Paterno, and Sara Hassell. All three were executives at the former CoreStates Financial Corp., Philadelphia.

PNC recently began a global treasury management and foreign exchange and derivatives trading effort in Philadelphia. It also built a currency and investment trading room there.
