Canada Trust Card Wins Customer Satisfaction Survey

Canada Trust's Gold MasterCard won the top rating in J.D. Power & Associates' annual Canadian Credit Card Holder Satisfaction Study.

In the research firm's poll of 3,000 Canadians, similar to a U.S. cardholder study, Toronto-Dominion Bank's Emerald Visa came in second and Bank of Nova Scotia's ScotiaGold Visa was third.

J.D. Power said the "clarity and accuracy of the billing document" and "issuer reputation" were two of the respondents' top considerations.

The firm also found that the cards that were above average in customer satisfaction won 25% more "share-of-wallet" spending than lower-ranked cards.

"With competition intensifying and cardholders using their credit cards more often for purchases and revolving debt, it is imperative for credit card issuers to recognize that billing documents are effective financial management tools when they provide customers with clear and accurate information," said Andrew March, director of financial services at J.D. Power.
