In Brief:Former Banc One CFO To Join Citizens of R.I.

Citizens Financial Group Inc. said Wednesday it has hired former Banc One Corp. chief financial officer Michael J. McMennamin.

Mr. McMennamin, 53, will start in mid-November as executive vice president and CFO, succeeding Bradford Kopp, who was named head of corporate strategy and development.

Mr. McMennamin, a Banc One veteran, lost out to former First Chicago NBD Corp. CFO Robert Rosholt when the companies merged Oct. 2. He said he was assured another job in the new Bank One Corp., but opted to move on. "I just felt at this stage of my career, I wanted to be in more of a growth opportunity," Mr. McMennamin said.

Citizens, which is owned by Royal Bank of Scotland and Bank of Ireland, "has had dynamic growth" in the United States, Mr. McMennamin said.

"Mike's larger institutional experience will be invaluable as we chart our course for the future," said Lawrence K. Fish, chairman and chief executive officer of Citizens, which has $17.2 billion of assets.
