Short Takes: New President For Keyport Life

Keyport Life Insurance Co., a leading seller of annuities through banks, has appointed a new top executive.

Paul H. LeFevre, currently executive vice president, strategic marketing and planning at Keyport, has been named acting president of the Boston- based annuities underwriter. John W. Rosensteel, who has served as president since 1992, is retiring.

Mr. LeFevre will work closely with Keyport Life's management team to increase growth by enhancing the distribution, risk management, and operations of the company.

He will report to C. Allen Merritt, chief operating officer at Liberty Financial Cos., the parent of Keyport Life.

Mr. LeFevre joined Keyport Life in 1979 and has held a wide range of management positions there, including senior vice president, chief actuary, senior vice president, and chief financial officer. Before joining Keyport, he held actuarial positions with Boston Mutual and New England Life. -John Kimelman
