Capital Briefs: Revised Manual on Consumer Compliance

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. is distributing an updated version of its consumer compliance manual.

The revised book includes the recently released interagency Community Reinvestment Act guidance, a description of sampling techniques examiners use when reviewing CRA lending, and details on Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act exams.

This is the second time the FDIC has revised the consumer compliance manual, which was originally released in April 1996. The book covers fair- lending, CRA, and consumer protection issues.

The FDIC has posted the manual on-line at www.fdic.gov/banknews/compmanl/index.html. Paper versions are available for $100 by calling 800-934-3342.
