Tech Bytes: Ga. Bank Group Picks PC Banking Software

HomeCom Communications Inc. said it has been chosen to supply Internet banking, hosting, and related software to the six member banks of Colony Bankcorp of Leesburg, Ga.

HomeCom will initially deliver its Personal Internet Banker and Harvey One-to-One Marketing. These will be followed next year by InsureRate for insurance products and possibly a brokerage module.

Colony Bank president Clay Pirkle said computer-savvy customers will have "an on-line center where they can get current information on many aspects of community life, and where businesses can promote their products and services."

Personal Internet Banker is built on the Microsoft Internet Finance Server Toolkit. It allows HomeCom to "quickly integrate all existing electronic banking channels (while) having the infrastructure to support a wide variety of new financial services," said Michael S. Dusche, Microsoft's financial services industry manager.
