Tech Bytes: Fleet Brokerage to Handle Inquiries on Web

Quick & Reilly, the brokerage subsidiary of Fleet Financial Group, said its customers can obtain account information through Intuit Inc.'s Quicken or Microsoft Corp.'s Money personal financial software.

The brokerage selected Innovision Corp.'s financial server-which uses the Open Financial Exchange protocol pioneered by Microsoft, Intuit, and Checkfree Corp.-to handle customer inquiries.

Company officials also said they are working to integrate these brokerage services with Fleet's Web banking services.

Quick & Reilly said it chose Innovision because of its track record with other on-line brokers including Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co.'s Discover Brokerage Direct, T. Rowe Price, Mellon Bank Corp.'s Dreyfus subsidiary, and American Century.
