Compaq Marketing Executive Jumps to Unisys

Financial industry marketing executive Norman Goldberg has left Compaq Computer Corp. to join Unisys Corp.

Mr. Goldberg, 56, formerly vice president of business development for financial services and electronic commerce at Compaq, is vice president of worldwide sales and marketing in Unisys' year-old enterprise NT services division, which employs 100 and supports the Microsoft Windows NT operating system. He began Monday.

Mr. Goldberg said he will devise strategies to drive Unisys' NT services business, which views NT-just renamed Windows 2000-as a replacement for mainframe-based systems.

"It is a great opportunity," said Mr. Goldberg, "the chance to get in on the ground floor of a growing business."

The move to Blue Bell, Pa.-based Unisys was also attractive for personal reasons. "Philadelphia is home for me," said Mr. Goldberg. "I moved away 24 years ago."

He brings experience in marketing the Windows NT platform.

Compaq, which bought Tandem Computers Inc. and Digital Equipment Corp., has been promoting Windows NT for financial services applications.

Mr. Goldberg joined Tandem two years before it was bought by Compaq in June 1997.
