In Brief: Major Emerging Nations Seen Rebounding

Large emerging markets will recover quickly from the current worldwide financial crisis, according to a report released by Pace University's Lubin School of Business.

The report predicted that big emerging-market countries-led by China, India, Poland, South Korea, and Turkey-will resume growth at rates that exceed the world average.

"The talent, energy, physical assets, and will to grow are still there," the report said.

It added that wealthier countries and multinational corporations will continue to invest and operate in these low-cost arenas based on the belief that these countries will ultimately return to their high-growth track.

The report cautioned, though, that future growth must be accompanied by regulatory reforms in most emerging markets.

"The world's business and political leaders are just now removing their masks of denial and realizing that rooting out corruption, requiring greater financial transparency, and implementing other critical reforms are key to economic healing," the report added.
