Web Order-Processing Software Updated

Maximized Software Inc. said it has released version 2.0 of MaxCharge Standard Edition, which lets a Web site process credit card orders securely over the Internet.

MaxCharge can operate with many available electronic commerce software packages. The new version can be downloaded from the maximized.com Web site at a cost of $295 per computer.

It is a Windows Active-X component that bases its security on SSL, the Secure Sockets Layer protocol.

"Version 2.0 adds support for the Authorize.net processing network," said Ken Spreitzer, president of the six-year-old software company. "Authorize.net has over 10,000 customers so far. Now more Web sites than ever will be able to make use of their services."

MaxCharge version 1.0 is also supported for credit card processing through another network, ECHOnline.

"Many sites report that their sales go up almost immediately, because shoppers like to get their purchase immediately," Mr. Spreitzer said, "and MaxCharge enables that sort of instant gratification."
