Provident Bank Names Executive

Provident Bank in Amesbury, Mass., has hired Charles Cullen from Citizens Bank of Massachusetts as senior lending officer and a senior vice president.

He succeeded Patricia Grebe, who retired in March from $135 million- asset Provident.

Citizens is a unit of Citizens Financial Corp. in Providence, R.I., which is owned by Royal Bank of Scotland Group. Mr. Cullen was a senior vice president of the Masssachusetts bank and managed its Metrowest middle- market lending team in Framingham.

He came to Citizens in 1997 when it bought Grove Bank in Newton, Mass. Mr. Cullen had been Grove's senior lending officer for seven years.
