Short Takes: Chase Plans to Open Its 49th Vista Fund

Chase Manhattan Corp. is planning to unveil a new fixed-income mutual fund, Chase Vista Strategic Income Fund, on Monday.

The fund, the 49th in the Vista family, will be managed primarily by Craig Blessing, said a Chase spokesman. The fund awaits approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Mr. Blessing, a vice president, is head of emerging markets at Chase Asset Management.

The Chase Vista family was managing $39.7 billion of assets as of Sept. 30. Chase Funds, a separate family of 10 no-load mutual funds that opened this year to 401(k) clients and has been offered to retail customers since August, was managing $683 million as of Sept. 30.
