In Brief: Analyst Sees $2B Countrywide Web Volume

Countrywide Credit Inc. will generate $2 billion of Internet loan volume in 1999, double other analysts' projections, said Morgan Stanley Dean Witter analyst Kenneth Posner.

Mr. Posner last week reiterated his "strong buy" recommendation for Countrywide stock, on expectations of wider margins from strong retail production.

Retail and Internet production increases will accelerate the company's growth rate to 14% next year, from 12% estimated for 1998, Mr. Posner said.

Countrywide closed $70 million of loans in October from Internet applications, according to Mr. Posner's report.
