Roundup: Bank One Closing Michigan Collections Offices

Bank One Corp. said this week that it plans to close three indirect lending collections offices in Michigan and move the jobs to Akron.

The company said it would eliminate about 100 Michigan jobs in Flint, Grand Rapids, and Troy, and would hire 100 people in Akron to manage a $2.2 billion loan and lease portfolio.

The Michigan jobs were part of First Chicago NBD Corp., which was acquired by Bank One in October.

The company also said it would add 40 business loan workout and collection positions in Akron.

Plans for additional hiring would bring employment in Akron to 1,250. Most of the jobs would be added by mid-January.
