USABancshares Names Executive

MIDDLE ATLANTIC

USABancshares of Philadelphia has hired Brian M. Hartline as its chief financial officer and as chief operating officer of its BankPhiladelphia.

Mr. Hartline was executive vice president and chief financial officer of ML Bancorp and its Main Line Bank, which Sovereign Bancorp bought in February. He was in charge of strategic planning, investor relations, and capital management.

ML Bancorp had $2.3 billion of assets; USABancshares has $150 million.

At USABancshares' CFO he succeeded David J. Torpey, who remains CFO of BankPhiladelphia. As the bank's chief operating officer Mr. Hartline succeeded Quint Williford, who has left to pursue other interests, the bank said.
