American Business Financial Services Inc. of Bala Cynwyd, Pa., has promoted senior vice president and general counsel Jeffrey M. Ruben to executive vice president.

The company originates, sells, and services secured business loans and nonconforming mortgages.

Mr. Ruben oversees compliance, collection recoveries, asset allocation, and other legal matters. He joined the company in 1992 from Klehr, Harrison, Harvey, Branzburg and Ellers where he was an associate.

American Business Financial also promoted James Blythe to senior vice president.

Mr. Blythe is the president of its Upland Mortgage. Before joining Upland he was director of consumer lending at Eagle Bancshares in Atlanta.

Earlier he was a senior vice president and regional manager at Fleet Finance Inc., Atlanta.

Finally, Upland promoted John Santilli, its national sales chief, from vice president to senior vice president.
