In Brief: Chase Treasurer Fills Vacant CFO Position

Chase Manhattan Corp. on Tuesday promoted Dina Dublon to chief financial officer, a widely anticipated move.

Ms. Dublon, 45, has been executive vice president since 1996 and corporate treasurer since 1994.

Chase has not had an official chief financial officer since July 1997, when Peter J. Tobin retired and was replaced by Marc J. Shapiro, chairman of Chase's Texas banking affiliate. Mr. Shapiro was given the new title of vice chairman and head of finance and risk management, including CFO duties.

Ms. Dublon joined Chemical Banking Corp., a Chase predecessor, in 1981 as a management trainee in the capital markets group and has spent much of her career in the bank's finance unit.

She was named executive vice president for corporate planning after Chemical's 1996 merger with Chase.

Before joining Chemical, Ms. Dublon worked at Harvard Business School. She will continue to report to Mr. Shapiro as a member of the $354 billion- asset bank's policy council.
