Card Briefs: Metris Hires Advanta Exec to Fill CFO Slot

David Wesselink, formerly of Household International and Advanta Corp., has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer of Metris Companies Inc., effective in early December.

He succeeds Robert Oberrender, who left to become treasurer of Sara Lee Corp. in Chicago.

"David adds the depth and seasoning we need in order to continue our growth plans," said Ronald Zebeck, president and chief executive officer of Metris, a top credit card issuer.

Mr. Wesselink joined Household in 1971 and rose over 22 years to chief financial officer of Household Finance Corp. In 1993 he joined Advanta as senior vice president and chief financial officer.
