In Brief: Vice Chairman Leaves National City Board

Richard F. Chormann, a vice chairman of National City Corp., retired from the company and its board Monday.

Mr. Chormann was chairman and chief executive officer of First of America Bank Corp. of Kalamazoo, Mich., and engineered the sale of his company to National City of Cleveland last March.

Though he will leave the parent company's board, he will remain chairman of the board of its Michigan unit. This subsidiary includes most of the former First of America operations in Michigan and Illinois.National City also announced that it had added Jerome F. Tatar, chairman and CEO of Mead Corp., to its board on Monday. Mr. Chormann was unavailable to comment.
