In Brief: Shareholders Approve Roslyn-T R Deal

Roslyn Bancorp's acquisition of T R Financial Corp. won approval from both thrift companies' shareholders on Tuesday.

The $655 million purchase of Garden City, N.Y.-based T R Financial would more than double Roslyn's size, to $7.7 billion of assets, and create a company "with the strength required to grow," Roslyn chairman Joseph L. Mancino said in a press release.

Roslyn shares fell $1.0625 Tuesday, to $18.125. Shares of T R Financial fell 93.75 cents, to $36.
