Card Briefs: Olympics Postcards For Visa Customers

Visa U.S.A. and the Postal Service are giving away postcard sets to customers who use Visa credit or debit cards for post office transactions.

The promotion, which will end in March, ties in with Visa's sponsorship of the Winter Olympic Games. Each Visa payment gets the cardholder four postcards with winning designs from the card association's Olympics of the Imagination children's art contest.

The Postal Service began accepting credit and debit cards in 1995. In the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, 1997, 29.8 million postal transactions were conducted this way, amounting to more than $1.2 billion. Visa anticipates a significant volume increase this year.

In a separate promotion, the Simon DeBartolo Group of Indianapolis will give away Visa Olympic pins to shoppers in its 131 malls who make purchases of $25 or more with the Mall VIP Visa card.
