Tech Bytes: Small-Bank Vendor Pays $3M for Vertex

Jack Henry & Associates, a vendor of computer hardware and software to community banks, said it has acquired Vertex Inc. for $3 million in cash and stock.

Vertex provides teller software and related services to 30 institutions in the Southeast.

Jack Henry sells data processing systems for core banking and accounting applications. It has more than 1,460 customers nationally.

Jack Henry's chief executive officer, Michael E. Henry, said the companies share a market and Vertex's products would add to his company's product line.
