J.P. Morgan Investment Executive Elected Vice Chairman, Director

J.P. Morgan & Co. announced Thursday that Walter A. Gubert has been elected a vice chairman and director, effective March 1.

Mr. Gubert, 50, is worldwide head of Morgan's investment banking group, a London-based post that he will retain.

Since joining J.P. Morgan in Paris in 1973, Mr. Gubert has held senior roles in many of its major business groups. In 1977, he assumed the helm of the London-based Treasury Management Advisory Group. In 1981, he moved to New York to head the company's U.S. capital markets activities.

He returned to London in 1987 to head J.P. Morgan Securities Ltd. and was named to head Morgan's London office in 1989. In 1991, he was appointed Morgan's senior executive for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Mr. Gubert was born in Merano, Italy, and graduated from the University of Florence.
