Capital Briefs: Fed Seeks Changes in Mortgage Data Collection

As part of its year-2000 compliance program, the Federal Reserve Board is proposing changes to the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act rules.

The Feb. 19 proposal would require banks to record all four digits of the year when an application is filed. Bankers now record only the last two digits of the year on the loan application register.

If adopted, the changes would be effective for data collected in 1998. Comments are due April 27. copyright c 1998 American Banker, Inc. All Rights Reserved. http://www.americanbanker.com
