In Brief: Bankers Trust Hires Two Execs for Europe

Bankers Trust New York Corp. has snapped up two senior- ranking European officials, naming Paolo Baratta as head of its Italian operations and Alan Ramsay as managing director and head of compliance for Europe and Asia at Bankers Trust International PLC in London.

Mr. Baratta takes over as chairman and president of Bankers Trust Finanziara SpA in Milan. Until 1993 he served as minister for privatization, foreign trade, public works, and environment, and since then as chairman and president of Crediop, a medium- and long-term credit bank, vice chairman of Banco Ambrosiano Veneto, and vice chairman of the Italian bankers association. Bankers Trust's Italian subsidiary mainly handles corporate and financial institutions in areas such as capital markets, risk management, private equity, and advisory services.

Mr. Ramsay, who served as head of surveillance at the Securities and Futures Authority in London, will move into his new position April 14.
