Synovus Taps Anne Dawahare To Lead New Technology Unit

Synovus Financial Corp., Columbus, Ga., has promoted senior vice president Anne G. Dawahare to president of its new data processing unit, Synovus Technologies Inc.

Ms. Dawahare was also named chief information officer of the parent company. She came to Synovus Financial in 1994 as a financial accounting manager from KPMG Peat Marwick LLP, where she was a senior manager.

Synovus Technologies will supervise relations with M&I Data Services, which provides data processing to Synovus Financial's 34 banks. The new unit will also lead initiatives in electronic banking and other technology areas.

It will absorb Synovus Data Corp., whose president, F. Stevenson Brice, will now be responsible for analyzing various strategic initiatives. Mr. Brice will report to James H. Blanchard, chairman and chief executive officer of the parent company.
